22 April 2026 The Egyptian Health Council congratulates Dr. Ashraf Hatem on Egypt’s win of membership in the Health Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union

prof. Mohamed Lotayef, The Executive president of the Egyptian Health Council, extends his sincere congratulations to Prof. Ashraf Hatem, member of the House of Representatives and former Minister of Health, on the occasion of the Arab Republic of Egypt winning a seat on the Health Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, in a new achievement that reflects the distinguished international standing enjoyed by Egyptian competencies in the health field.

This victory is the culmination of a career full of giving and experience for Dr. Ashraf Hatem. It also enhances Egypt’s pioneering role in international forums and opens broader horizons for exchanging experiences, which contributes to supporting the country’s efforts to improve health services and achieve comprehensive health coverage.

It is worth noting that Dr. Ashraf Hatem led Egypt to win membership in the Health Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, during the elections held on the sidelines of the Union’s General Assembly meetings in the city of Istanbul, the Republic of Turkey, which witnessed strong competition between a number of representatives of the participating countries, where he was able to obtain the majority of votes with a total of 77 votes from different parliamentary delegations, in a clear confirmation of international confidence in Egyptian expertise and competencies in the health field.

In a strategic step to enhance the efficiency of the health system in Egypt, a joint memorandum of understanding was signed today, Sunday, June 14, 2026, between the Egyptian Health Council and the Magdy Yacoub Foundation for Heart Diseases and Research, with the aim of preparing and qualifying highly qualified medical and health cadres, and developing continuing medical education.
