In a strategic step to enhance the efficiency of the health system in Egypt, a joint memorandum of understanding was signed today, Sunday, June 14, 2026, between the Egyptian Health Council and the Magdy Yacoub Foundation for Heart Diseases and Research, with the aim of preparing and qualifying highly qualified medical and health cadres, and developing continuing medical education.

The agreement was signed by prof. Mohamed Lotayef, The Executive president of the Egyptian Health Council, Prof. Sir Magdy Yacoub, Founder and Honorary President of the Magdy Yacoub Foundation for Cardiac Diseases and Research, and Prof. Magdy Ishaq, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Magdy Yacoub Foundation for Heart Diseases and Research.

This agreement comes within the framework of the continuous pursuit to improve the quality of health services provided to citizens and promote patient safety concepts. The scope of cooperation between the two parties includes the following axes:

Supporting the Egyptian Board system through the institutional and programmatic accreditation of the Egyptian Board Certification.

Continuous Professional Development Accreditation of specialized training programs, workshops, and scientific conferences.

Continuing Medical Education Building and innovating cutting-edge educational programs that meet the needs of the health sector and keep pace with international standards.

This partnership is a pivotal step to leverage the significant global and local expertise of the Magdy Yacoub Foundation for Cardiac Diseases and Research, and integrate it with the comprehensive development vision of the Egyptian Health Council to raise the efficiency of doctors and healthcare providers in Egypt.

The signing of the agreement was attended by Prof. Madiha Khattab – Chairman of the Higher Scientific Committee of the Egyptian Board of Human Medicine at the Egyptian Health Council

The Board of Trustees of the Egyptian Health Council held an expanded meeting on 28, April, 2026, in honor of His Excellency Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, Prof. Abdel Aziz Qansouh, Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Ahmed Kojak, Minister of Finance, and Prof. Hani Otaiba, President of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in England. Also present were Sir. Magdy Yacoub, the international heart surgeon, and Prof. Hisham Ali Sadiq, Professor of Heart, Biophysics and Molecular Biology. At the University of Arizona in America, via video, in France, Major General Saeed Al-Najjar, Assistant Minister of the Interior for the Medical Services Sector, and Major General Dr. Nabil Fekry, Undersecretary of the Medical Services Sector at the Ministry of Interior.
