05 July 2025 Clinical Exam for the Egyptian Fellowship in Ear, Nose and Throat at Kasr Al-Aini Faculty of Medicine

From 5 to 6 July 2025, Kasr Al-Aini Faculty of Medicine – Cairo University hosted the activities of the clinical exam for the Egyptian fellowship in the specialty of ear, nose and throat, within the outpatient clinics of Cairo University Hospitals, which is one of the largest and most prestigious educational medical institutions in Egypt and the region.

35 doctors from outside the college participated in the exam, distributed over two days, 18 doctors on the first day and 17 doctors on the second day, where the participants underwent accurate practical assessments aimed at measuring their clinical competencies in the fields of diagnosis, treatment and dealing with various pathological conditions with high professionalism. The exam was held in a real clinical setting within an outpatient clinic, allowing applicants to interact directly with a variety of real-life situations, reflecting the actual medical environment, and contributing to the clinical skills of the doctor in a practical and realistic way.

The exam was conducted under the scientific supervision of Prof. Dr. Hadi Salah, Head of the Department of Ear, Nose and Throat, with the participation of Prof. Dr. Zuhair Al-Hoshi, Prof. Dr. Ismail Zuhdi, supervisors of the Egyptian Fellowship, along with a group of experienced external examiners. Prof. Dr. Hossam Salah, Dean of Kasr Al-Aini Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hospitals, stated that hosting this exam comes within the framework of its pioneering role in supporting and developing the medical education and professional assessment system in Egypt, stressing that the faculty always seeks to provide an integrated educational environment that keeps pace with international standards, and qualifies doctors to provide distinguished health care that meets the aspirations of the Egyptian society. For his part, Prof. Dr. Hadi Salah stressed that the successful organization of this exam reflects the concerted efforts of the work teams in the department and the college, and the great support from the college administration and hospitals represented by Dr. Hossam Salah, Dean of the Faculty and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hospitals, pointing out that the department is continuing its efforts to develop clinical training, in order to achieve the maximum benefit for trainee doctors inside and outside Kasr Al-Aini. Prof. Dr. Ismail Zuhdi explained that the clinical exam is an important station in the path of doctors towards fellowship, and reflects the extent of their clinical readiness, pointing out that Kasr Al-Aini is committed to applying accurate and fair evaluation standards that ensure integrity and transparency. Prof. Zuhair Al-Hoshi pointed out that Kasr Al-Aini"s distinguished clinical environment provides unique opportunities to qualify doctors in conditions that simulate practical reality, making the college an ideal location for holding such medical events.

A number of trainee doctors expressed their appreciation for the selection of Kasr Al-Aini as the site for holding the clinical exam, noting that the level of organization, the diversity of clinical cases, and the availability of supervising medical competencies contributed to providing a realistic and enriching evaluation experience. They stressed that the college is from their point of view the ideal place to hold this type of exams, which requires a strong educational environment and advanced medical equipment.

The holding of this exam at Kasr Al-Aini College of Medicine reflects the college"s continued commitment to its mission in developing medical education, and graduating scientifically and practically qualified cadres who keep pace with developments in the health field, and contribute to supporting the medical system in Egypt and the region.
